Beef with Tausi, Tofu and Kangkong

Here's another recipe that you can try serving your family for lunch and dinner. 



What you need: 

* 1/2 Kilo Lean Ground beef
* 1 small sachet of black beans 
* 1 can of coconut milk 
* 4 pieces of tofu, diced 
* Kangkong leaves, chop the stalks too 
* 1 sachet of Magic Sarap 
* Dash of Pepper 
* 1 tablespoon of white sugar
* Canola Cooking Oil 
* 2 green finger chilies, sliced
* Medium onion, chopped 
* Garlic

What you need to do: 

* Fry the tofu, set aside. 
* Heat the oil. Saute the garlic and onions. 
* Add the beef until cooked. 
* Pour the coconut milk. Add the fried tofu and tausi. 
* Add the kangkong stems and leaves and finger chilies. 
* Put Magic Sarap, sugar and dash of pepper. 
* Let it simmer for 5 minutes. 
* Serve with love and happy eating!

Baby food: Chicken with Sweet Potato Puree

Last week, I tried experimenting with chicken because I want to check if my daughter would love it. I was too excited because this will be the first time she’d taste some meat. At first, she liked how it tasted but after eating 4 tablespoonful of the chicken puree, I noticed that she didn’t want to open her mouth and would immediately turn away from the spoon. I thought she was already full so I put the remaining puree in the fridge for her next feeding. Come lunch time, she still didn’t want to eat and that’s when I found out that she didn’t like the smell of chicken. When I gave her a different kind puree, she was able to finish 2 small containers plus some dessert. Fortunately, I was able to let her finish this recipe by adding her favorite yogurt. Don't get me wrong, this recipe tastes really good (I even liked it), I just don't get it why my daughter prefers it with greek yogurt. he he he. 

This is a recommended recipe for babies between 8-12 months. I will keep on trying to serve chicken to my baby until she gets accustomed with the taste and smell.   ;)




What you need:

·         1 breast of small chicken, sliced to small pieces
·         1 medium onion
·         1 medium sweet potato, chopped
·         1 pear
·         Extra Virgin Olive Oil
·         ¼ cup of water (or more)

What you need to do:

·         Heat the oil. Saute the onions.
·         Cook the chicken until transparent.
·         Add the sweet potato and pears. Cook for 3 minutes.
·         Pour the water. Let it simmer for another minute.
·         Puree the cooked chicken.
·         Let it cool. Serve. 

Hotdogs with Oyster Sauce

Here’s a different way to cook hotdogs on breakfast. There’s nothing fancy about this recipe but trust me, this is really delicious and perfect if paired with fried rice, plus egg plus coffee, plus bread (haha). 



Here’s what you need:

·         6-8 pieces of cocktail hotdogs - sliced (as shown in the picture)
·         2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
·         Knorr liquid seasoning
·         Canola Cooking Oil
·        2 cups of water

What you need to do:

·         Put the hotdogs on water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Drain the water. 
·         Heat the oil. Fry the hotdogs.
·         Add the oyster sauce. Cook for 1 minute.
·         Dash some liquid seasoning.
·         Serve while hot.

Baby food: Bananacado

Here's another recipe that you can try giving your babies. It’s pretty easy to prepare because you do not have to steam or boil the fruits since they are both soft.



Based on avocado central, one cup of pureed avocado has:
·         368 Calories
·         4.6 g of Protein
·         19.62 g of Carbohydrate
·         1166 mg of Potassium
·         23.0 mg of Vitamin C
·         175 mg Beta-sitosterol
·         0 mg Cholesterol

You can make batches of bananacado and its safe for freezing. :) Make sure to choose a ripe Avocado. 

What you need:

3 pieces medium lakatan - sliced
2 pieces of avocado - scooped
¼ cup water
Greek Yogurt (optional)

What you need to do:

·         Put the bananas and avocado on the food processor or blender. Pour the water. Puree.
·         Add Yogurt.
·         Best served when chilled.

Baby food: The happy banana meal

They say that eating bananas can make you happy; that’s why I called this baby food: The happy banana. Aside from its benefits and “happiness” effect, I also feel happy every time I give this food to Milly because she just loves it. (Prolly one of her favorites). She always makes this “aaahhh-ohhh-yummy” sounds the moment I put the spoon inside her mouth. :D




Since Milly reached her 7th month, she started looking for more texture on her food. She enjoys eating pureed fruits and veggies but she prefers “more solid like” food. There are times that she doesn’t want to eat the pureed food I prepare for her but the moment I give her a slice of veggie or fruit, she’d open her mouth right away and munch on it. (As if she has teeth already).

Milly loves bananas so I decided to make a “more textured” menu for her. Since I also want her to get more calories with the food she eats, I added white rice on her food. I just make sure not to mash/grind the rice that much.

What you need: 

·         2 pieces of lakatan banana, sliced
·         3-4 tablespoons of cooked white rice
·         ¼ cup of water
·         Greek yogurt (optional)

What you need to do:

·         Put the banana in your food processor. Puree.
·         Pour the water. Add the cooked rice. Process it for 20 seconds.
·         Put greek yogurt for more fruity taste.
·         Serve with love.


Taste level: 5 stars (Milly can finish 2 containers of baby bullet per meal every time I give this to her)

Baby food: No Flour Banana Pancakes

This recipe is not just for babies, even adults can eat this too. Trust me, Banana Pancakes really taste delicious. My husband loves this more than the typical pancakes that I make for breakfast.  This is easy, low in calories and flourless; perfect for breakfast or snacks. 



What you need: 

2 pieces of lakatan banana (mashed)

2 eggs, beaten

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

What you need to do:

* Brush the pan olive oil

* Mix the beaten eggs and banana

* Scoop two table spoons of batter. Because of the mashed bananas, flipping the pancakes is a bit tricky so we need to make smaller pancakes.

* Flip the pancakes when the other side turns brown.

* Serve while hot. Happy eating!

Biggie Buco Pandan

Tipak tipak na jellies - that’s why I called it Biggie Buco Pandan. See for yourself :D 



Making jellies from scratch was quite a challenge for me. I was really clueless how to make the jellies out of the powdered Mr. Gulaman and was too hesitant that I might not be able to perfect the jelly. good thing my first attempt was a success and it tasted really delicious.

I’ve always wanted to try this recipe because I am such fan of this dessert.  I can still remember that I used to order 3 buco pandans from my officemate just to satiate my craving.

Try this simple recipe and its perfect for this summer season!

What you need

·         1 sachet of Mr. Gulaman (or any powdered gulaman) Pandan flavor
·         Strips of coconut meat (from 2 pieces of buko; kinayod) ; separate the coconut juice
·         4 pieces of pandan leaves
·         1 small can of condensed milk
·         1 pack of Nestle Crème

What you need to do:

·         On a big pot, put the coconut juice. Add additional 2 cups of water. Put the pandan leaves and powdered gulaman. Let it boil.

·         Continue stirring until the powder is dissolved.

·         Place the cooked gulaman on a big bowl or Tupperware. Let it cool. (I placed mine inside the freezer hehe) Once texture is okay, you may now cut the jellies in to small squares (or big just like what I did)

·         Add the coconut meat. Pour the condensed milk and Nestle cream. Mix evenly.

·         Serve chilled.

Power Chicken Potato Salad

There are so many types of salad but Chicken Potato Salad is actually our family favorite. Check out this recipe and for sure your family would love it too. ♥ 





What you need to do: 

* 1 cooked chicken breast, shredded 

* 1/2 Kilo of Elbow/Salad Macaroni - cooked as per instructions

* 15-20 pieces of baby potatoes - cooked (do not peel) 

* 1 medium carrot - diced 

* 1 small can of pineapple chunks, drained

* 1/2 cheese - diced

* 1 Big sachet of Mayonnaise 

* Raisins (optional)

* Dash of pepper

What you need to do: 

* Well this is really easy peasy because all you need to do is to combine all the ingredients. 

 * Serve with love and happy eating!

Baby food: Homemade Brown Rice Cereal with Apples and Bananas


I feel so proud of myself because I was able to make Milly’s first very own Brown Rice Cereal with Apples and Bananas. It may not seem very much but I just love making homemade food for Milly; it just gives me so much joy. My eyes would totally light up every time I see her enjoy every meal I prepare for her. I just want her to be hale and hearty and this is my way of introducing that to her.

The other day, I tried my luck to prepare her very first homemade cereal. To be honest, I wasn’t really that confident while I started grinding the brown rice. I got really cautious because I didn’t want to waste any ingredients every time I prepare Milly’s meal.  As I started grinding the brown rice and saw them turn into small pieces, I knew right there and then that I was doing the right thing. Remember, brown rice takes a while before it gets cooked.  Boiling water and continuously stirring the rice will do the trick. (Took me about 10-15 minutes before I got the right texture) 


Here’s what you need:
·         A food processor with miller/grinder (not sure if blender can do this though)
·         4-5 tablespoons of brown rice
·         2 medium bananas
·         1 apple
·         1 cup water (or more)
·         ½ cup water (for puree)

What you need to do:

·         Grind the brown rice. Set aside.

·         Pour the water on the pot. Add the brown rice. Let it boil. Continue stirring. You will notice that the texture will get sticky. You will have to add more water because we do not want to “burn” the brown rice. Gradually pour water while checking if the rice is already cooked. (I did 6-8 taste tests to make sure if the rice is already soft). Once cooked, set aside.

·         Now, steam the apple.

·         Combine the bananas and steamed apple in the food processor.

·         Gradually pour ½ cup of water. Puree until you get the right consistency.

·         Mix the brown rice cereal with the banapple puree. Puree for another minute.

·         Serve and let your baby enjoy your homemade baby food!


Taste level: 5 stars 



Creamy and Spicy Fettuccine

Here's another way of preparing your pasta in a very healthy way. ♥ Pasta is quite heavy in the stomach and such a carbo-overload snack so you may opt to replace the beef with tuna.



What you need:

* 1/2 Kilo Fettuccine
* 2 Packs of All Purpose Creme
* 1 can of Spicy Tuna
* 1 can of Green Peas
* 1 small can of Button Mushrooms
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1 medium red & green bell pepper, cut in to thin strips
* Canola Cooking Oil

What you need to do: 

* Cook the pasta as per instructions. Set aside. 

* Heat the oil. Saute the onions. 

* Add the tuna cook for 1-2 minutes.

* Add the peas, mushrooms and bell peppers. 

* Pour the All Purpose Creme. Let it simmer. 

* Combine the sauce and pasta. Mix evenly. 

* Serve with love and happy eating. 



Baby food: Squash & Carrot Puree





What you need: 
1/4 Squash
1 medium Carrot
1/4 cup water

What you need to do: 

*Steam the veggies until soft (if you don't have a steamer you may boil the 
vegetables)

*Put the veggies in the blender/food processor. 

*Pour water.

*Puree/Blend until you get the consistency you want.

*Serve with love

Yields up to 8oz of baby food.

Tofu Sisig

Okay, so I decided to eat healthy and to lose the extra baby  body fats. Yep, after 7 months post-partum, its just today that I finally made up my mind to stay fit. I am going to overhaul myself and promised myself to bring back my pre-pregnancy weight. (Watch out for it my dear husband *evil grin*)  With that, I am going to share you an easy recipe that you can enjoy eating without feeling that guilt (Hayyy, hala! Ilan ba ang calories ng sisig per serving?/ Hay naku ang dami ko nakain na sisig, nakakataba pa naman to/ Grabe, sumakit batok ko kakakain ng sisig)

Sisig is one of my fave dishes so instead of using those high in cholesterol ingredients to prepare this dish, I've replaced it with Tofu. The taste is not the same as the "real" sisig, but the flavor is still there. My husband, who is not a fan of tofu also loved this :)


What you need: 

* 3-4 pieces of tofu (cut in to small squares) 
* 3 pieces of green chilies 
* 1 medium onion
* 1 small pack of Mayonnaise 
* 2-3 tablespoons of Oyster Sauce 
* Knorr Liquid Seasoning (can replace with Soy Sauce)
* Canola Cooking oil 

What you need to do: 

* Heat the oil. 
* Cook the Tofu until it turns golden brown. Set aside 
* Saute the onions. 
* Add the green chilies. 
* Put the tofu and add the oyster sauce. 
* Sprinkle & dash some Liquid seasoning 
* Add the cooked tofu.
* Put the mayonnaise and mix it until the tofu's are evenly covered with Mayo
* Serve and happy eating! ♥ 

NOTE: You may add salt, pepper and sugar. Water may also be added.

Banana Nutella Pancakes

Here's another way of cooking the traditional way of Pancakes. Instead of using honey and butter, you can use Nutella to make it even more delicious.  If you do not have Nutella, you can use peanut butter. 



What you need: 
* 1 box of pancake (some ready mix pancakes need eggs); cook as per instructions. 
* Nutella 
* Banana Latundan - 4 to 5 pieces 
* Unsalted butter 

What you need to do: 
* Heat the pan. Spread some butter on the heated pan. Let it melt. 
* Cook the pancakes as per instructions
* Spread generous amount of Nutella
* Add the bananas 
* Serve with love and happy eating!
